"The Florida college chess foundation (FLCCF) was founded by college students from around the state, their respective college chess clubs being incorporated into the larger organization. The union of groups has created a more centralized body that can participate anywhere in Florida. The objective is to promote the art of chess as well as expand the chess community in the state of Florida. In order to do this, the FLCCF will help guide the scholastic section, advertise chess news, assist members of the community, increase the clubs in the organization, and create tournaments, Intercollegiate, scholastic, and open. Through connections with other sources and organizations of chess in the state, the FLCCF plans to be the bridge between scholastic chess and non-scholastic."
